A message from Rolando Gomez, founder, Phototherapy.org

For almost 15 years I’ve been telling myself and others that I want to publish a mainstream book on the power of photography to help build or re-build self-esteem with a working theme of "Photographic Therapy." As a photographer with over 30 years of experience and a glamour photographer with over 10-years of experience, I’ve witnessed this power first-hand, so I’ve decided to make this dream a reality with 100 Photographic Voices.

100 Photographic Voices is a book illustrated with photos and limited text revealing the stories of 100 women across the nation. A book that servers two purposes, one to help 100 women with the comfort of photographic therapy and two, hopefully to invigorate people who believe in photographic therapy, potential subjects and knowledgeable photographers.

While my original mainstream book is filled with words and still in production, I’ve paused to focus on a book that will illustrate the inner- and outer-beauty of women and telling their stories–the first required step to spread the gospel of photographic therapy. A significant body of work that will encourage the belief that photographic therapy is a legitimate genre of photography.

As I pondered this concept, past clients of photographic therapy came to mind. Most have come and gone as the majority were private glamour photography subjects, those that wanted total privacy of their photographs they commissioned for themselves and/or their significant others. Simply put, I’d have to locate them and ask their permission. Then I thought, why not give the opportunity of photographic therapy, especially for those need?

I then realized the best way to get this book published was to seek support from those that believe in the photographic therapy concept, either through individual or corporate donations and sponsorships, as the task is a tremendous undertaking that can only be completed with a substantial amount of time, energy and resources accomplish it in a reasonable amount of time.

Hence, I’ve created PhotographicTherapy.com, a community for the purpose of placing photographers, subjects and resources together plus to help create the sabbatical environment to publish 100 Photographic Voices in a reasonable amount of time.

Through the combined power of this community and your support, the book not only becomes a reality, but PhotographicTherapy.com should nourish into a family of friends and colleagues that encourages others to seek photographic therapy. I ask you to spread the word and help this community grow into a large family of support and resources so that many can benefit through the power of photography, experience, wisdom and knowledge. I ask you to contribute to 100 Photographic Voices so that 100 women in need can discover their true selves. I ask you to contribute to the powerful message this book will represent.

Hopefully with the support of PhotographicTherapy.com, others and yourself, these goals will become a reality. For more information on the scope of the book, 100 Photographic Voices, please investigate PhotographicTherapy.com further. In order to achieve these goals, please contribute toward this 100 Photographic Voices book and PhotographicTherapy.com– you can help make a difference in photography and perhaps someone’s life. Contributions, small or large are graciously accepted and will be acknowledged on PhotographicTherapy.com and in print, unless anonymity is requested..
